My name is Kenny and I have been a part of the Austin Music scene since 1986. I have played locally, nationally and internationally. I have done many things in my life, but besides playing music, teaching is my next longest run. I have taught for over 25 years. I will currently teach at my home for anyone looking to take drum lessons in the Austin, Buda, Kyle, and San Marcos areas. I am also teaching online for those who are too far away to drive. APPROACH: My approach to teaching drums is that I am patient and teach to the student's goals. I do not teach specific styles of music. Instead, I teach a student how to play the instrument, focusing on different styles along the way, making the student a more well-rounded and confident player while having fun. And isn't that what playing music is about? TEACHING SPECIALTIES: *Classical Percussion *Drum Set *Latin Percussion, with an emphasis on Afro-Cuban music (Salsa)

What to expect in my Drum Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
I am currently teaching at my studio for anyone looking to take drum lessons in the Austin, Buda, Kyle, and San Marcos areas. I also teach online for those who are too far away to drive. My approach to teaching drums is that I am patient and teach to the student's goals. I do not teach specific styles of music. Instead, I teach a student how to play the instrument, focusing on different styles along the way, making the student a more well-rounded and confident player, while having fun. And isn't that what playing music is about? Teaching Specialties: Classical Percussion, Drum Set, and Latin Percussion, with an emphasis on Afro-Cuban music (Salsa). Please contact me and we can schedule a day and time for a trial lesson. If you decide to continue, we will set up a day and time, each week, just for you.
Formal Education:
Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University Major: Music Performance, Audio Technology, Ethnomusicology
Private Education:
Studied classical and jazz percussion privately, starting at age 8. I studied for 5 years with Kenny Aronoff, a former drummer with John Mellencamp, Smashing Pumpkins, John Fogerty, etc., and was a famous studio drummer.
Performing Experience:
I have performed with classical ensembles, Jazz big bands and combos spanning most genres of music, specializing in drum set and percussion.
Experience Teaching:
-Tutoring many students at middle schools and high schools, in the Austin and Round Rock, TX school districts, -Taught drums for 10 years at Tommy's Drum Shop, in Austin, to students from 3rd grade to adult. -Judged UIL All-State Band auditions (TX).
